About this event

  • 30 days 23 hours

Join us this May to virtually run the length of 31 runways, one runway for each day of May, in support of the aviation industry.

This year, Aviation Action has teamed up with EASA and AIRDAT to raise funds to develop the Aviation Action app. Our free-to-use app provides mental health and wellbeing support through a range of services for people working in the aviation industry.

This year's campaign will focus on further developing phase two of the new Aviation Action app, more details on that below.

We're inviting you, your friends, family and colleagues to get involved in #RTR2024 to virtually run 31 runways in 31 days across Europe and the UK:

● Walk, jog or run at your pace

● Participate from your own home

● Join our Facebook community

● Get your Run The Runways 2024 t-shirt

The most important thing is that you feel part of the event and you get outdoors and moving.

Who are Aviation Actiona and why Run the Runways?

Aviation Action launched in May 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, as we felt vital support was missing for our aviation colleagues. We aim to provide mental health support to anyone involved in aviation, from flight deck to firefighters and caterers to cabin crew.

We offer a range of invaluable aviation mental health support services to those in need - with volunteer therapists and councillors, peer support programmes and professional support including HR, legal, CVs and interviews - and career coaching. For support, visit

www.aviationaction.org

With staff shortages, rising costs, increased dissatisfaction and ongoing COVID-19 concerns, many individuals within the Aviation Industry are struggling with their mental health.

The money raised from this year’s Run the Runways will be used to provide different mental health support services to these individuals.

What your money will be used for:

Launched earlier this year, Aviation Action has been working with Mentor 360 to develop an app that provides instant access to advice on mental health, performance, wellbeing, nutrition and much more. The app has been specifically designed to help people better face the obstacles in their lives.

The app is compliant with NHS Information Governance requirements (DTAC and DCB0129 clinical risk management) and all our content is overseen by an external clinical safety officer.

We want to make sure that everyone in the aviation family can access the Aviation Action app resources for free, which is why we need you for Run the Runways 2024!

Furthermore, Aviation Action plans to train 5 dedicated Aviation Peer to Peer Supporters in 2024 to ensure that there is an increase in the level of face-to-face support and awareness within the aviation community. These peer to peer supporters will be trained in Mental Health First Aid, Suicide Awareness and Safeguarding as well as other necessary training to ensure that they are not only given the tools to support their aviation colleagues, but also have the infrastructure in place to seek support themselves to fulfill their role should they need it.

To motivate you and inspire you, Aviation Action has a supportive and friendly Facebook Community called 'Clearway’ and you are invited to join and share your daily adventures.

The entry fee of £39 and will cover not only the cost of an event t-shirt, but also administrative costs and a small donation to Aviation Action.
